The Etzkorn Rooster Ranch was established in 2005 and is owned and operated by Jay and Sarah Etzkorn.
Jay and Sarah have been providing hunting services since 1984. Jay guided goose and pheasant hunters while Sarah owned and operated The Pit Stop, a small cafe and bar created for catering to hunters and neighbors each fall.
In 2005, they decided to concentrate mainly on pheasant hunting guiding services and created Etzkorn’s Rooster Ranch. They opened their home to hunters as a bed and breakfast where Sarah continues to provide great home cooked meals today.
The Etzkorn family has been in the commercial waterfowl hunting business for over 40 years and can offer the unique opportunity to hunt a combination of pheasants, Canadian geese, and mallard ducks all within the confines of the ranch.
Safety is our #1 priority - all hunters are reminded of safe hunting practices prior to the hunt. We also offer training and shooting lessons for the inexperienced hunter at no extra cost.
In the field, we take the necessary time to explain the layout of the land and assure that all hunters understand the area we are hunting, are comfortable with the terrain, and understand where the walkers and blockers will be located.
Guides and retrievers will escort your hunt, walking each section to flush out, retrieve, and carry your birds. Our experienced guides are skilled at adapting to the needs of our guests and will ensure your success in the field.
Our hunting ground is plentiful and can accommodate large or small groups. We have built our operation to cater to multiple small groups separately (unless intermingling is requested).
We at Etzkorn's Rooster Ranch work year-round to establish our land for both nesting and hunting of upland game birds. We manage our hunting areas with tree belts, planted row crops, draws, and ravines that provide for natural nesting and water sources.
By providing hunting areas of different degrees of terrain and cover, we can assure good nesting and natural production of upland game birds in the spring as well as establish food plots that double as hunting areas in the fall.
